My recent trip to Hong Kong and the Philippines was so good. This time I got to take my 16 year old daughter Chloe who recently has been getting on fire for God. I wanted her to experience an international ministry trip and let God give her a heart for the nations.
We first visited Hong Kong where we got to hang out with Renae, my oldest daughter, who is currently studying musical theatre in Hong Kong. We spent the day eating, shopping, wondering the city and watching a dance production. It was so good to hang out with Nae again.
I got to minister back in City Church as well. It’s been one year since I preached there and 11 months since we left. We received so much love and honour and it was hard to say goodbye to everyone again. But we will be back!
Then we were off to the Philippines with my father, Rob Rufus, for a ministry trip. Our first stop was Davao City. This is the city of President Duterte and it is the safest city in the Philippines. We were amazed to find out the President has a 90% approval rating by Filipino’s. They absolutely love him over there because he is getting rid of corruption, building prosperity and taking care of the people.
My dad and I got to share the ministry at the “Grace for Leadership Conference, Davao” and it was awesome! It’s like we were two seperate chemicals that when mixed together become explosive!
We seem to activate each other to go to higher levels and the result was a powerful time of ministry. The conference was made up mostly of church leaders with over 80 churches represented. At first everyone was a little cautious but after the first couple of sessions they were “all in!” and the meetings became extremely exiting! I preached on walking in the Spirit and it came out the best I have ever preached. My father spoke so powerfully on identification with Christ and how to receive an impartation from God. The truth of the Gospel just opened up the atmosphere to heaven and God came pouring in! There was supernatural impartation and the feedback was many lives were changed!
You can watch the 6 video’s here, or listen here.
(I will be uploading them all so keep checking for updates.)
Third generation!
The hosts of the conference were just wonderful! Pastora Bing Apura from Jesus Church and her amazing children pastors Butch, Judah and Kookai (see top photo), along with Pastors Ching and Mitch Alukuino from Firstborn Community Church were incredible. These are some very special people in Davao. God has given us a deep heart connection and we feel like we have known them for years! We will definitely be doing more with them in the future.
The worship team was truly a worship team. They released a big sound of worship and I could listen to them all day long! They worked so well with us during the conference.
We were so honoured to be able to sign some books as well and take lots of selfies. In the Philippines you can’t take just one photo, it has to be two!
Then it was off to Manila for another Grace for Leadership conference and Sunday church ministry. Jimmy Santos “my manager” in the Philippines was a huge blessing and took care of us so well, along with his amazing wife Clare. Pastor Jimmy is the “divine connector” and his ministry is to connect different pastors, churches and ministries together in the Philippines who are celebrating the Gospel of Grace and resonating with the same sound for reaching the Philippines with the grace of God. He is such a good man and God has connected us together in a divine partnership in the Gospel, and he has become just a very dear friend!
The Manila Grace for Leadership conference was well attended with many churches and church leaders represented. It was a blessing to connect with pastors from all over the Philippines and already my “manager” Jimmy is starting to organise future trips with many of these pastors. If you want us to visit you in the Philippines then please get hold of Jimmy and we’ll see what we can arrange.
We had the chance to have lunch and catch up with our goods friends Pastors Jocel and Mylene Evangelista and also Pastor Jun Yu and Rhema. Precious times!
On Sunday I was so blessed to minister in two of my favourite churches in the Philippines. I feel so at home in both of these churches. In the morning we were at The Life Giver Church, led by Pastor Willy Leynes and his wife Pastora Mary Anne Leynes. They love the presence of God there and are grounded on a strong foundation of grace. They are a highly favoured church and are planting churches all over the world and working with the government on many levels to see change in their city. I preached on walking from your reborn spirit and the word was received with excitement and joy. We have a deep heart connection with them also and will be partnering with them in the Gospel to support their church planting and see the Gospel of Grace spreading all through the Philippines. Pastor Willy and I might be going to minister in Qatar this year in a new Life Giver Church over there.
Then it was off to New Life the Fort, led by our good friends Pastors Alvin and Michelle Dela Pena. This church is rocking and it is always a joy to minister here.
They meet in a cinema in the busiest shopping centre in the Philippines, Market! Market! They have six services on Sunday with over 400 people per service! We are praying and standing in faith with them for their own BIG building. I did the 3pm and the 5pm service and spoke again on Walking in the Spirit. This was my main message for the Philippines this trip, and again it was received with joy. I love this church and pastors Alvin and Michelle have extended to us an open invitation. We can’t wait to go back. Next time I will have to go with my wife Kylie! I know they will love her there!
We did some more book signing, selfies and then we got to spend some quality time with Ptrs Alvin and Mich. So many amazing people and deep heart connections in the Philippines now!
Finally we even got to have lunch with Pastor Paul Chase who is the senior pastor of the New Life Churches. He is an apostolic father and a great man of God. We were so privileged to hear him sharing stories about walking in the Spirit. We found out that we were preaching similar things all week without even knowing it! God is awesome! We highly respect this man and the incredible legacy he is establishing in the Philippines.
I have to be honest, the Philippines is one of my favourite places in the world to minister! The people are so happy, passionate, humble, servant hearted and just love Jesus. God is moving and we are seeing towns, cities and regions opening up to the amazing Gospel of grace. I look forward to going in as long as there is an open door and serving and loving the Philippines.
Please contact myself or Jimmy if you are serious about having us minister with you in the Philippines, and especially if you would like to gather churches and leaders together and host a “Grace for Leadership Conference”.
See you again Philippines and until next time, may His peace fill you in every way!
